Hamels, wife welcome son into world
Phillies left-hander to rejoin team this weekend in Denver

The Phillies revealed that Hamels' wife, Heidi, delivered the couple's first child, Caleb Michael, on Friday at 9 a.m. ET at Lankenau Hospital, which is located in North Philadelphia.
After spending some time with his wife and newborn son, Hamels is expected to rejoin the Phillies, who are scheduled to play Games 3 and 4 of their National League Division Series against the Rockies in Denver this weekend.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said that he would gain a better understanding about when Hamels may rejoin the club after calling him following Friday afternoon's workout at Coors Field.
Hamels threw five innings and took the loss in Game 2 on Thursday afternoon. With the best-of-five series tied at one game apiece, there's a chance the Phillies could call upon the 25-year-old left-hander to start Game 5, which if necessary, would be played on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.
But given that Cliff Lee tossed a complete-game gem against the Rockies in Game 1 on Wednesday, the Phils would likely be more apt to start Lee in Game 5.
If the Phillies were to opt to bring Lee back on three days' rest to start Game 4 on Sunday night, then Hamels would be the best candidate to start Game 5. This seems to be the most likely scenario given that Lee threw 113 pitches Wednesday and has never started on short rest during his career.
