Game 1 draws large TBS audience

Ratings up across board, especially in Philly for NLCS

With their team in Los Angeles, Philadelphians are backing their Phillies in a big way from home.

Game 1 of the National League Championship Series between the Phils and Dodgers drew a 28.8 local household rating on Thursday night. That was a 21 percent increase over the 2008 NLCS Game 1 between the same two teams.

Philadelphia took an 8-6 win over Los Angeles in Thursday's series opener.

Nationally, the game shown on TBS drew nearly seven million viewers for a 4.3 rating. That is a five percent rise from last year's game nationally.

Overall, the MLB postseason has had double-digit viewership growth for TBS compared to 2008. U.S. household ratings are up 10 percent, total viewers and households are both up 11 percent.
