Myers a possibility for World Series roster

Pitcher left off NLCS roster with shoulder strain

The Phillies have not decided on the composition of their World Series roster, but according to an ESPN.com report, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. has said Brett Myers is a consideration.

The Phillies will not make their roster decision until the American League Championship Series is over and they know whether their opponent will be the Yankees or Angels.

Myers had a spot on the Phillies' roster for their Division Series before being left off the NLCS roster, which was attributed to Myers not being totally recovered from a strained lateral muscle on his throwing shoulder. However, Tuesday he threw a simulated game and appeared to be recovered.

Ultimately, the decision on whether Meyers will be selected could come in the team's decision on whether it will carry 11 or 12 pitchers on its roster.

More of a certainty is that Cliff Lee will start Game 1 of the World Seies, which is likely according to manager Charlie Manuel, with Cole Hamels and Pedro Martinez to follow accordingly. Other starters, Joe Blanton and J.A. Happ , will likely begin the series in the Phillies' bullpen.
