Ibanez likely to DH for Phils in opener

Dobbs, Stairs are options if Burnett pitches Game 2

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has used the same lineup this postseason because it works.

But with Games 1 and 2 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium, Manuel will have to make an adjustment. He will have to find a designated hitter.

Expect that to be left fielder Raul Ibanez.

"More than likely he's going to DH," Manuel said before Monday's workout at Citizens Bank Park. "He'll DH some against a left-handed pitcher. And right-handers, I don't know exactly what we're going to do yet, but we're going to put the best lineup out there that we think can win the game."

Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia will start Game 1, which means Ben Francisco likely will start in left field. Yankees right-hander A.J. Burnett could start Game 2, which means Ibanez could play in left field and Greg Dobbs or Matt Stairs could DH.

"I think that whole part of the World Series is definitely to our advantage," said Phillies right fielder Jayson Werth, asked about getting an extra bat at Yankee Stadium while the Yankees will be without their DH in Philadelphia. "We have guys who are very capable of hitting the ball however Charlie wants to do it. You come to our park, their pitchers aren't used to hitting very much."
