MLB announced two initiatives as part of its expanding role in the Dominican Republic. According to a release, "Both initiatives are designed to reduce identity and age falsification and the use of prohibited substances" in the Dominican.
"Major League Baseball is pleased to adopt these new measures as we continue to address vital issues in the Dominican Republic," Sandy Alderson, hired in March to oversee MLB's efforts in the country, said in a statement. "Major League Baseball is committed to collaborating with all of the appropriate parties to educate young players and expand the resources available to them as they pursue professional careers."
