Guerrero appears All-Star bound

CHICAGO -- The last time Vladimir Guerrero went to the All-Star Game, he ended up winning the Home Run Derby. That was in 2007 in San Francisco.

Guerrero is not interested in doing it again this time around in Anaheim.

"No way," Guerrero said when asked if he would participate the Home Run Derby this year. "In '07, the last time I did it, I went on a streak without hitting a home run after doing it. That's the reason."

Guerrero is likely to be in Anaheim. He remains the leader among American League designated hitters in the latest fan balloting update released on Tuesday. Guerrero went into Tuesday's game against the White Sox hitting .332 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 49 games.

"It feels good. It shows I have been doing a good job," Guerrero said. "I haven't been there for a few years, so it would be something."

Guerrero said it's not a big deal to him that the game is being played in Anaheim. He still owns a house there. He played for the Angels from 2004-09, but he's looking forward more to the Rangers' first trip back to Anaheim between June 29-July 1.

"It will be interesting to see the fans' reactions since I left," Guerrero said.
