Beltran rakes in Minors rehab game

Mets outfielder plays seven innings, goes 3-for-4

In his third game since beginning a Minor League rehabilitation stint, Carlos Beltran provided a glimpse of the jolt he might provide to the Mets upon his return.

Beltran went 3-for-4 in Class A St. Lucie's 7-2 win over Palm Beach on Saturday, netting a double and two singles, and perhaps of most importance, he played seven innings in center field on his surgically repaired right knee, recording two putouts.

The 33-year-old veteran has been out all season after undergoing surgery in the offseason. In Beltran's place, Angel Pagan has played exceptionally well, although he has been dogged by muscle spasms in his rib cage, causing him to miss the past three games.
