'The Colonel' too chicken to steal signs

Fan resembling KFC founder entertains in Toronto

A fan dressed as Colonel Sanders was in Toronto for Friday's Angels-Blue Jays tilt, holding a sign in reference to this week's allegations that the Blue Jays steal signs at Rogers Centre.

The fan, a male dressed in a white suit with the Colonel's trademark black glasses, held a sign that read, "I'm too chicken to steal signs," with "chicken" in red ink.

Toronto was accused of stealing signs in a report by ESPN The Magazine on Wednesday. Anonymous players from an unnamed team, according to the article, said the Blue Jays used a man dressed in white to relay signs from the centre-field seats.

The Blue Jays have denied the allegations.

"This whole thing is stupid," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said during a news conference on Wednesday. "It's unbelievable that we're even sitting here to talk about this."

The Angels beat the Blue Jays, 5-1, in Friday's series opener.
