Fan hit by Hamilton's flying bat seems OK
By Bailey Stephens / MLB.com
When Hamilton swung and missed at a Doug Fister offering in the Rangers' 5-2 loss to the Tigers in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series at Comerica Park, the bat sailed into the stands, striking the fan in the front row. Two pitches later, Hamilton flied out to right fielder Andy Dirks for the second out of the inning.
While there was no official update on the fan's condition, he appeared to be OK. He was evaluated by medical personnel and remained at the game.
Hamilton was involved in a different situation with a fan in early July, when Shannon Stone, a Brownwood, Texas, firefighter, leaned over a left-field railing at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington attempting to catch a ball thrown by Hamilton and died as a result of injuries sustained in a 20-foot fall.
