Cruz, in 34 career American League Championship Series at-bats, has a slugging percentage of 1.000. He has six home runs and 14 RBIs, including four homers in this series to tie the all-time LCS record.
Including Wednesday's Game 4 appearance, Tigers closer Jose Valverde has pitched 4 1/3 innings in a span of three days.
Michael Young and David Murphy were the only Rangers starters to not score a run on Wednesday, as the other seven scored one apiece.
The Tigers were 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position in Game 4.
This is the seventh time in ALCS history that two games have gone into extra innings. No ALCS has gone to extras in three games.
Out of the 18 previous times a team has taken a 3-1 lead in the ALCS, as the Rangers have, 14 advanced to the World Series.
Scott Feldman got the win, making it the third win this series for the Rangers bullpen. They are the fifth team to get three LCS wins from relievers.
Cruz's throw to nab Miguel Cabrera at home plate in the eighth inning was the first outfield-to-catcher double play in a postseason game in the eighth or later since George Foster's assist for the Reds in the 1975 World Series.
