Power Cross awarded $45,000 by the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to renovate Abernathy Baseball Field
Ribbon cutting ceremony to take place on April 4
The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) awarded a grant in the amount of $45,000 to Power Cross, an organization dedicated to mentoring young men through athletics, to fund renovations to their home baseball facility, Abernathy Baseball Field. The grant paid for renovation of the batting cages, playing surface, dugouts, and for the purchase of baseball equipment and uniforms. The renovations will benefit approximately 285 young men, ages 8-18, from Power Cross programs and the surrounding community in Statesville, North Carolina.
To celebrate the completion of the renovation, Power Cross will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at Abernathy Baseball Field on Wednesday, April 4th at 6:00 p.m. Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh, Baseball Tomorrow Fund Senior Grant Coordinator Meghan Chisholm and several Statesville City Council Members will be on hand to take part in the festivities.
“The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is pleased to support the Power Cross baseball program and facilities,” said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director for the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. “We applaud the efforts of the organization to encourage youth participation in baseball and provide underserved young men in the community with a positive outlet and a quality facility to play the game.”
“Receiving this Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant is a true testament to the importance of this project, which will benefit so many children in this community,” said Natalie Storment, Power Cross Co-Founder. “It is very important that we are able to have a home field the boys can be proud to play on and the community can call their own. We are truly blessed to have this opportunity to reach out and impact our community.”
