Orioles reach deals with Johnson, Hammel
By Cash Kruth / MLB.com
The Orioles have only one remaining arbitration-eligible player after agreeing to one-year deals with right-handers Jim Johnson and Jason Hammel on Friday.
The 29-year-old Johnson will receive $6.5 million and is eligible to make $50,000 more in bonuses based on games finished. Johnson is coming off a season in which he posted a franchise-record and Major League-leading 51 saves to earn Rolaids Relief Man of the Year honors.
Terms of Hammel's deal were not yet known. The 30-year-old requested $8.25 million when he filed for arbitration, while the Orioles offered $6.75 million. Hammel was 8-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 20 starts last season.
Fellow righty Darren O'Day is the Orioles' only arbitration-eligible player who has not struck a deal.
