Report links Cabrera, De Los Santos to Biogenesis

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera and reliever Fautino De Los Santos were among five more players linked on Tuesday to Biogenesis, the South Florida anti-aging clinic currently under investigation by Major League Baseball.
In documents obtained by ESPN's "Outside the Lines," Cabrera and De Los Santos, who was claimed off waivers from the Brewers earlier this month, were detailed as having received performance-enhancing drugs, although the documents alone aren't proof the players received or used PEDs. Astros outfielder Fernando Martinez, A's reliever Jordan Norberto and Mets outfield prospect Cesar Puello were also linked to the clinic, according to the ESPN report.
"We support MLB's policy and any sort of investigation ... we support their effort on this issue," said Padres general manager Josh Byrnes, who was unaware that Cabrera and De Los Santos were linked to Biogenesis until the article was published Tuesday.
Catcher Yasmani Grandal, who in November was suspended for the first 50 games of 2013 after testing positive for testosterone, was linked in January to Biogenesis. Thus far, Grandal has refused to answer questions about any potential connection to Biogenesis.
One document obtained by "Outside the Lines" lists Cabrera and a figure of $1,500 from March 2012. De Los Santos, who played for the A's and Brewers last season, is also listed with a figure of $700 from March of last year as well.
The 26-year-old Cabrera, projected as the Padres' starting shortstop, hit .246 last season in 115 games and led the National League in stolen bases (44).
Cabrera's agent, Scott Boras, told ESPN on Tuesday: "We can't comment until we do due diligence on this, as he's been a client of ours as of November."
De Los Santos, who was claimed on Feb. 6, had a 3.00 ERA in six games with the A's in 2012 before he was traded to the Brewers on July 28. The right-hander spent most of the season in the Minor Leagues.
At least 25 players have been listed with ties to Biogenesis, either by their full name or nickname.
