Winter Leagues: Singleton adds to HR lead in PR

Puerto Rican Winter League
Santurce 9, Mayaguez 2
Jonathan Singleton, the Astros' No. 2 prospect, continued his power surge with a two-run home run during Santurce's five-run first inning. Singleton finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and now leads the league with seven homers, three ahead of anyone else. Through 23 games, he also leads in slugging percentage (.622) and OPS (1.040). Santurce's Victor Mateo struck out eight over five innings for the win, while Irving Falu and Randy Ruiz homered for Mayaguez.
Caguas 3, Ponce 0
Aaron Bates' two-run single in the third inning provided most of the scoring for Caguas, with Efrain Nieves tossing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts for the victory. Edgardo Baez added a walk and two hits, including a double, for Caguas.
Venezuelan Winter League
Caribes 5, Aragua 4
Gorkys Hernandez's three-run homer in the top of the fifth gave Caribes a 5-1 lead, and it held on despite a late Aragua rally. Hernandez finished 2-for-4, Paolo Espino threw six solid innings, and Pedro Rodriguez got the save. The Nationals' Wilson Ramos went 2-for-4 with a home run run for Aragua.
Magallanes 10, Caracas 0
Two of Magallanes' three homers, including a grand slam by Renny Osuna, came during a six-run ninth inning that blew open the game. Magallanes finished with 20 hits, led by Endy Chavez's four, and David Bromberg got the win by holding Caracas to one hit over five innings.
Dominican Winter League
Aguilas 13, Estrellas 4
Aguilas' six-run first inning set the tone for this one. Danny Santana led off with a homer, Hector Luna added a two-run shot, and Andy Marte smacked a three-run shot in the fourth, finishing with four RBIs. The Cubs' Junior Lake had a triple and an RBI for Estrellas, and Josh Whitesell hit a two-run homer.
Escogido 6, Gigantes 1
Carlos Pimentel gave up only two hits and struck out seven over six scoreless innings for Escogido, which broke a scoreless tie with a four-run third inning. Pedro Ciriaco had a double and two RBIs, the Twins' Pedro Florimon went 2-for-4 with a double, and Angels No. 2 prospect C.J. Cron added a hit and an RBI. Phillies No. 2 prospect Maikel Franco homered for Gigantes.
Licey 4, Toros 1 (10 innings)
The Royals' Emilio Bonifacio, who finished 2-for-5, broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the 10th with a bases-loaded triple to right field. The Rangers' Leonys Martin was among three other Licey players to record multiple hits. Starter Yunesky Maya gave up one run over six innings, and Jairo Asencio got the save despite allowing a hit and a walk.
Mexican Pacific League
Culiacan 4, Los Mochis 2
Mario Valdez hit the go-ahead single during a two-run bottom of the sixth inning for Culiacan, after Jake Fox's eighth home run tied the score in the top of the frame. Rodrigo Lopez tossed seven strong innings for the win, and Matt Bischoff nailed down the save. Gilberto Mejia led Los Mochis with three hits.
Navojoa 11, Mazatlan 3
Navojoa grabbed control with a six-run first inning and took an 11-1 lead in the fifth. Jon Weber and John Lindsey both drove in three runs, while Fernando Flores homered and Salvador Robles gave up one run over six innings. Blake Gailen hit a two-run shot for Mazatlan.
Obregon 4, Guasave 2
RBI singles by Albino Contreras and Said Gutierrez broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning. Contreras finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Eduardo Arredondo drove in two for Guasave. Rolando Valdez went six solid innings for the win, and Jhonatan Arias picked up the save.
Hermosillo 6, Mexicali 0
Heber Gomez's two-run double highlighted Hermosillo's four-run sixth inning that snapped a scoreless tie. Gomez had two hits and three RBIs, and five Hermosillo pitchers combined for the shutout. Chris Roberson led Mexicali with two hits.
