Every dog has its day. For Tampa-area canines, it happened to be Sunday.
While the Orioles and Rays battled through the dog days of summer, Tropicana Field hosted its first-ever "Bark in the Park" event for local pet owners.
The party deck above left field was converted into a dog zone for the occasion, which proved to be an instant sellout. Product samples, an adoption booth and a portrait station were just a few of the offerings.
As it turns out, man's best friend has quite a few companions in the Rays' clubhouse. There are 20 pooch owners among Tampa Bay players and coaches.
All-Star third baseman Evan Longoria and bench coach Dave Martinez lead the way with three dogs each, while David Price's French bulldog Astro is by far the most popular.
