Anyone in the Mets clubhouse on Saturday would have noticed Oasis' "Wonderwall" blasting over and over again. But what sounded like a clubhouse prank was actually just a technology flub by infielder Justin Turner.
Turner intended to play the 1995 hit just once, but clicked the wrong setting on Spotify.
"I forgot to turn it off the search and it just played continuous versions of Wonderwall," he said. Turner left the clubhouse after turning on the song and had no idea his teammates couldn't turn it off.
While somewhat embarrassing, the incident may have sparked a new ritual. Turner hit his first home run of the season on Saturday and the Mets picked up a win.
"I went in there today and put it on right away as kind of a joke," he said.
Only time will tell if a new baseball superstition has emerged.
