Cubs power past rallying Reds
Corey Patterson apparently likes the bunting and hoopla of Opening Day.

Moises Alou added a three-run double for the defending NL Central champs.

The Reds did their best to pull out a come-from-behind victory, but the five runs allowed by starter Cory Lidle over five innings proved too much to overcome.

The Reds were forced to start an uphill battle from the beginning. Just four pitches into the season, Lidle (0-1, 9.00 ERA) was tagged for a one-out, solo home run by Chicago's Corey Patterson.
