Kaz-aam: Mets blast past Braves
Kazuo Matsui blasted a homer on the first pitch of the game, went 3-for-3 and collected three RBIs before the night was over while Tom Glavine finally broke the hex against his former teammates, throwing six strong innings for his 252nd career win.

Matsui is the third Met to homer in his first Major League at-bat. He is the 20th player to homer on the first pitch in his first Major League at-bat.

Russ Ortiz, who led the National League in walks last year, issued just two free passes in his abbreviated 2 1/3 inning effort. But his inability to get ahead in the count and some costly defensive miscues, enabled the Mets to tally six runs (three earned) and seven hits against him.

"If you make your pitches and make good pitches, you can get anybody out," said Ortiz. "Obviously, I didn't do that."
