Devil Rays relief pitchers Dicky Gonzalez, Trever Miller and Lance Carter combined for 4 2/3 shutout innings on Monday night. Unfortunately they were pitching with a nine-run deficit after starter Paul Abbott gave up eight runs in the first inning and one in the fourth. The Tampa Bay bats could muster just four hits off Kenny Rogers as the Texas lefty shut them out.
Home is where his heart is and for Kenny Rogers, it's also where the wins are. Rogers picked up his fourth win of the season and his 105th as a member of the Rangers on Monday night. The victory moved Rogers into second place for wins in franchise history. The Rangers lefty got plenty of help. In the first inning, the Rangers hit three home runs en route to eight runs.
