The Mets used some record-setting resourcefulness in the second inning Friday, notching an NL-record three sacrifice flies, to help make a winner of Pedro Martinez. Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran launched solo homers in support of Martinez, who yielded just two runs in eight innings for the win.

Derek Jeter welcomed the Mets and Pedro Martinez to Yankee Stadium with a leadoff homer in the first, but Jeter's blast was hardly a harbinger of things to come Friday. Martinez settled down to yield just one more run, while Yankees starter Mike Mussina allowed five runs in six innings.
