Braves keep heating up Hotlanta
Baltimore can finally put its trying road trip in the rearview mirror after closing out a weekend in Atlanta with another loss. O's ace Rodrigo Lopez yielded four runs on seven hits in six innings and took the loss despite striking out five. Baltimore's offense was led by Rafael Palmeiro's 562nd career home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning.

Atlanta polished off a sweep of Baltimore thanks to another stellar start by John Smoltz, who allowed just one run on five hits to record his eighth win of the season and his third complete game in June. Andruw Jones hit his league-leading 24th homer in the sixth, his 12th in 15 games.
