Rafael Palmeiro hit his 564th career home run, passing Reggie Jackson for ninth on the all-time list, but the Orioles lost to the Red Sox. Palmeiro, who also had a single, now has 2,995 career hits. Sidney Ponson surrendered five runs on nine hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss.
