KC pitchers lose control
Royals pitchers walked nine batters and surrendered an eighth-inning lead as Kansas City dropped a disappointing series opener to the Yankees on Tuesday afternoon. Reggie Sanders and Shane Costa both homered as the Royals pounded out 12 hits. Right-hander Joe Mays struggled in his second straight start for Kansas City, issuing five walks and four runs in 2 2/3 innings.
