Vicente Padilla showed no ill-effects of the sprained right ankle that has bothered him the past week, firing 6 2/3 strong innings in leading the Rangers to a split of their four-game set at Yankee Stadium. Brad Wilkerson put Texas up for good, connecting for an upper-deck two-run homer in seventh off Yankees starter Jaret Wright.
The Yankees could manage little against Vicente Padilla on Thursday, as the Bombers scratched out just two runs off the right-hander. Johnny Damon provided New York with its only offense, stroking a two-run single in the seventh. Jaret Wright allowed three earned runs in six-plus innings.
