Mets make Subway Series stop
Yanks drop series to Mets

Trailing by two runs in the eighth inning, the Yankees loaded the bases with no outs but scored just once on a Jason Giambi sac fly as the Bombers dropped their series against the Mets. Derek Jeter plated a pair of runs on a single in the fourth inning, but Aaron Small struggled through 4 1/3 innings.

Carlos Delgado smacked a three-run homer off Yankees starter Aaron Small, and the next batter, David Wright, hit a solo homer as an encore as the Mets held on to defeat the Bombers at Shea. Reliever Duaner Sanchez escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the eighth inning, allowing just one run.
