Royals fall in series finale
The Royals couldn't finish a three-game sweep of the host Texas Rangers, who had 19 hits against three Kansas City pitchers. Mark Redman, Kansas City's hottest pitcher of late, allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks in three innings. The Royals' only two runs came in the fourth inning, one on an Emil Brown homer.

Texas ended a six-game losing streak in resounding fashion, getting 19 hits in a rout of the visiting Royals. Mark DeRosa and Michael Young each had four hits for the Rangers, with DeRosa driving in four and Young adding a solo homer and two RBIs. John Koronka earned the win, going five innings and allowing two runs on six hits.
