A.J.'s blast tops reeling Jays
Garland wins eighth straight

Jim Thome and Paul Konerko returned to the lineup after missing games with injuries and helped spark a victory over Toronto. Both men were on base when A.J. Pierzynski hit a three-run homer in the fifth to put Chicago ahead for good. Jon Garland went six innings to pick up his eighth straight win.

Hoping to end a five-game losing streak, Toronto sent Roy Halladay to beat Chicago. The ace righty was off his game and gave up five runs in six-plus innings to take the loss. Two Troy Glaus homers, including a three-run blast in the first, were all the runs the Blue Jays could muster.
