A matinee thriller for Mets
Phillies' miscues costly

Jon Lieber pitched one of his strongest games of the season on Saturday, but his costly throwing error helped set up the Mets' three-run sixth-inning rally in a frustrating loss. Slugger Ryan Howard continued to dominate National League pitching, blasting a three-run shot to up his RBI total to 99.

David Wright contributed an RBI single with the bat on Saturday, but it was his diving stop with two outs in the ninth that made him the game's star, helping to preserve Tom Glavine's 12th win. Pinch-hitter Endy Chavez ripped the key hit, a two-run double in the sixth that put Mets ahead to stay.
