Kyle Lohse allowed only a solo homer in seven innings, but his teammates' bats were held in check during a loss in St. Louis. Ryan Franklin gave up a walk-off single in his sixth loss of the season, and the Reds fell 2 1/2 games behind the Cardinals.

Scott Rolen followed his game-tying homer in the seventh inning with a walk-off single in the ninth to propel the Cardinals. Jeff Weaver pitched 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball to help St. Louis take the series from Cincinnati and increase its National League Central lead to 2 1/2 games.
