Mariners halt rain, then Tigers
Pineiro perfect out of 'pen
An 83-minute rain delay finished Jake Woods' night early and opened the door for reliever Joel Pineiro, who retired all 11 Tigers he faced and earned his first win since July 24. Adrian Beltre, moved to the eight-hole before the game, plated the decisive run with a groundout in the sixth.

Delay slows Detroit offense
With three runs in the first, the Tigers appeared ready to support Jeremy Bonderman in his eighth attempt at win No. 12, but a one-hour, 23-minute rain delay forced Bonderman out after four innings, and Detroit managed just two hits after the fourth. Andrew Miller took the loss in his Comerica Park debut.
