Loney leads Dodgers' slugfest

An injured Nomar Garciaparra did not start, and in his place, James Loney had a career day. The rookie went 4-for-5 with two homers, including a grand slam, to help L.A. sweep its three-game series against Colorado at Coors Field. Loney recorded nine RBIs to tie the Dodgers' single-game franchise record.

Colorado trailed by five runs in its final home game of the season and rallied back to take the lead with a seven-run fourth inning, but it wasn't enough for the Rockies to beat the Dodgers. Except for the pitchers, every batter got a base hit, including Vinny Castilla, who got a pinch-hit RBI single in his final career game at Coors Field.
