Tribe starts with a bang
Offense, Sabathia cruise
Grady Sizemore led off the opener with a home run and the Indians never relented en route to their first Opening Day win since 2002. C.C. Sabathia, not overpowering, but effective, brushed off his recent injury to pick up his first victory. Trot Nixon had three hits and Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta each drove in three runs.

Series at a glance:
Contreras rattled in opener
Jose Contreras got pounded in his season debut, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits over one-plus innings in a disappointing opening performance on the South Side. Darin Erstad hit a two-run homer in his first White Sox at-bat and Paul Konerko added a solo blast.
