After a promising weekend of starting pitching, Odalis Perez was unable to get through two innings as the Royals began a nine-game road trip Monday night with a loss to Toronto. The veteran left-hander lasted just 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs and seven hits, and he is now 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA this season.
A.J. Burnett saved his good stuff for the home crowd. He bounced back after last week's unimpressive debut, allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings as the Jays rolled to a home-opening victory at Rogers Centre. Burnett had plenty of help, too, as every starter in the hot-hitting lineup recorded at least one hit.
