After Roy Halladay flustered the Tigers' high-powered lineup in Friday's pitching duel, Detroit relied on its offense to chip away at a deficit most of Saturday in Rogers Centre. With some help from Jays closer B.J. Ryan, who had major control issues in the ninth, the Tigers broke through with four runs in the inning to improve to 6-3 on their 10-game road trip.
Should the Jays be concerned about All-Star closer B.J. Ryan? He blew his second save of the season in Saturday's loss to Detroit, allowing four runs after walking the bases loaded with one out in the ninth. It is the most walks he has allowed since July 4, 2005, and Ryan was lifted after recording two outs Saturday. He is now 0-2 with a 12.46 ERA in five games.
