Starter Chris Young suffered a road loss after 25 starts without one, losing to the Dodgers when he couldn't get out of the third inning. Young allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and five walks. Jose Cruz Jr. homered in the sixth inning for the Padres.
Right fielder Andre Ethier had three hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs as the Dodgers stole five bases and had 13 hits to down the Padres. Left-handed starter Randy Wolf struck out six and allowed three runs in six innings to earn the victory.
