The Indians were the victims of another big inning by the Yankees on Wednesday as they dropped their second straight in New York. Starter Jeremy Sowers was shelled over 2 2/3 innings for his first loss of the season. Designated hitter Travis Hafner led the Indians with three hits.
Kei Igawa picked up his first Major League victory in three tries, and Alex Rodriguez's monster April continued with his ninth homer as the Yankees topped the Indians for the second straight night. The Bombers belted out 14 hits overall.
