The good news is that starter Tomo Ohka pitched into the eighth inning. The bad news is that he allowed seven runs on 10 hits. Ohka was done in by several key hits and got little in the way of support from his batters. The Jays offense could not get going against Brandon McCarthy, who held the Jays to two hits through six innings.
Now this is the Brandon McCarthy Rangers fans have been waiting for. McCarthy shut down a potent Toronto offense on just two hits and one run through six strong innings as the Rangers cruised. Hank Blalock went deep and Michael Young had three hits for the Rangers, who snapped a five-game skid.
