The Pirates plated four runs -- highlighted by Chris Duffy's two-run homer -- to tie the score in the seventh inning, but they fell a little short as the 'pen gave up two runs in the eighth. Starter Tony Armas lasted five innings, allowing four runs on six hits.

Prince Fielder hit a homer in the second inning and another in the fourth. His biggest play came on the basepaths, however, as the slugger made a nice slide to score the winning run in the eighth. Ben Sheets was solid, but received a no-decision.
