Matt Cain continued to suffer from a lack of run support this season, pitching seven innings of one-run ball in defeat. The Giants' offense was shut down by Boston starter Daisuke Matsuzaka, who allowed just three hits over seven innings. Barry Bonds went 0-for-3 with an intentional walk.
