The A's hitting struggles continued, as the club could not give starter Chad Gaudin enough support. Gaudin went six innings, allowing only three runs on six hits while striking out four. The A's were led offensively by Dan Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the losing effort.

Hafner's hitting leads Tribe By Anthony Castrovince / MLB.com
After a rough start, C.C. Sabathia cruised for a complete-game, allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out eight to collect his 11th win of the season. The Tribe were led offensively by Travis Hafner, who went 2-for-4, with a home run and a RBI to break out of his mini-slump.
