Mark Ellis had four hits and three RBIs, including a home run in the fifth inning and a tie-breaking RBI double in the seventh, but the A's went on to fall to the Indians. Dan Haren allowed three runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Shannon Stewart had three hits, but Oakland lost its fifth straight.

After Travis Hafner tied the game with a two-run double in the ninth inning, pinch-hitter Kelly Shoppach crushed a three-run walk-off home run, lifting the Indians over the A's. Cliff Lee gave up three runs on six hits in six innings. Grady Sizemore had two hits, including his 13th home run.
