Right-hander Fausto Carmona gave up eight runs on seven hits in one-plus innings, and the Indians were unable to come all the way back in a loss to the Athletics. Jhonny Peralta, Casey Blake and Travis Hafner each hit solo home runs, while Franklin Gutierrez connected on a three-run dinger.
