It didn't come easy for the Friars after facing a late comeback for the second straight night. But after scoring two late runs, the Padres pulled out a win, despite losing starter Chris Young to an oblique strain. San Diego is now within one game of first in the NL West.

Ubaldo Jimenez made only one mistake, a first-inning homer to Mike Cameron, while pitching seven innings of one-hit ball. But after a seventh-inning rally got him off the hook, the bullpen let the game slip away as the Rockies fell to the Padres on Tuesday night at Coors Field.
