Cards' struggles continue
The Cardinals had little to take from Saturday's loss to the Nationals, struggling in all phases in their fourth straight defeat. Joel Pineiro took the loss in his Redbirds debut, lasting five innings. Batting ninth, Adam Kennedy had two hits, including a homer.

The Nationals kept rolling against the Cardinals on Saturday, ripping the Redbirds for their fifth straight victory. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman led the way on offense, finishing with two homers and three RBIs. Right-hander Joel Hanrahan went five-plus innings for his first big-league win.
