A stirring game-tying rally started by Daniel Ortmeier's leadoff triple in the ninth went for naught when Steve Kline allowed the first two batters to reach in the bottom of the inning. A night of highs and lows for the bullpen then ended when Randy Messenger gave up the deciding hit.
