Utility man turns off Rox power
Helton's homer not enough
Todd Helton gave the Rockies a late lead with a two-run homer in the eighth inning, but Jorge Julio gave that right back to the Dodgers by allowing a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. Jeff Francis struck out seven in six solid innings of two-run ball, but Colorado was unable to do much offensively until Helton's homer.

Series at a glance:
Martinez answers in eighth
Utility infielder Ramon Martinez had three RBIs, including a two-run single in the eighth inning that gave L.A. the lead for good. That picked up Scott Proctor, who allowed a homer in the top of the frame. Brad Penny labored through five innings, yet only allowed one run on two hits, but he was denied his 15th win.
