After falling behind in the early going, the Padres rallied twice to take the lead and headed into the bottom of the ninth with a one-run advantage, courtesy of Kevin Kouzmanoff's sac fly. However, Padres closer Trevor Hoffman was unable to seal the deal and blew just his fourth save of the season.

Castillo delivers walk-off hit By Marty Noble / MLB.com
In a see-saw battle, the Mets beat the Padres in walk-off fashion behind Luis Castillo's RBI single in the ninth inning. However, without Carlos Beltran's five RBIs, the Mets would not have been in position to win the opener at Shea.
