Lackey, GA lead Halos

John Lackey tossed nine shutout innings to run his scoreless-innings streak against the Mariners to 24 and led the Angels to victory in the series opener. Garret Anderson hit a solo home run and a two-run double give Lackey all the support he'd need.

Right-hander Miguel Batista allowed six runs over six innings and the bats were blanked on seven hits by John Lackey as the Mariners fell. Manager John McLaren was ejected in the first inning after arguing a strikeout call against leadoff batter Ichiro Suzuki.
