Washburn's effort wasted

After an August that saw him go 1-5, Jarrod Washburn was looking to start September with a win. For a while it appeared as though he would get his wish, as he allowed just two earned runs on three hits. But the bullpen combined to allow seven more runs, and the Mariners have now lost not only 11 of their last 12, but some ground in the American League Wild Card race.
