As far as finales go, the Red Sox accomplished two goals against the Orioles, lowering their magic number to clinch the AL East to 14 and helping Josh Beckett pick up his 18th win of the season. Coco Crisp delivered the game-winning hit, driving in J.D. Drew in the eighth inning.
After ending their 11-game home losing streak the day before, Baltimore was unable to win back-to-back games at home, falling short of its goal to pick up a split of the four-game set to Boston. In the loss, Jeremy Guthrie left in the sixth because of a rib cage injury.
